Time Systems and Calendars

While it is important to note that I must retain all manner of secrecy, either offline or online, I think my facade is more than sufficient to trick prying eyes that would otherwise cause damage to my person. Therefore, I have made the decision to speak freely on this site, while maintaining this pen-name in the hopes no one will either betray or attempt to find me.

With this being said, shall we delve into my race’s almost-forgotten calendar? I will try to lay out the information as best as I can, and also show you how I came to the conclusion of my Earth-birth-date.

The Eurothian Time-Table                                                       The Earth’s Time-Table

60 seconds = 1 minute                                                               60 seconds = 1 minute

60 minutes = 1 hour                                                                   60 minutes = 1 hour

32 hours = 1 day                                                                          24 hours = 1 day

42 days = 1 month                                                                       ~30 days = 1 month

10 months = 1 year                                                                      12 months = 1 year

The figures I have given you concerning the Eurothian time-table hold true for all of the other planets–Phantomium, Antimony, Baroque, and Barren–as well.

So, if my birth-date on Eurothia was in the 9th month, 17th day, or day 395 of the Eurothian calendar, how will this translate to Earth-time? We must begin by breaking days and hours down.

Eurothian:                                                                                Earth:

Total Number of Days in a Year: 420 days                         Total Number of Days: 365 days

Total Number of Hours in a Year: 13440 hrs.                    Total Number of Hours: 8760 hrs.

Then, if we were to divide the hours of the Eurothian system by 24–thus achieving what would be a normal Earth-day–we would get:

13440 / 24 = 560.

Thus, there is a 4680 hour, or 195 day difference between the systems.

Number of Hours at day 395: 12460 hours.

12460 hours – 4680 hours = 7960 hours.

7960 / 24 = 331.

What day on the Earth calendar is day 331? November 27th. Thus, my Earth-birth-date would translate to November 27th, also making me a Saggitarius.

While my description of the Eurothian calendar is far from over–I have yet to mention even the names of our months, or how they related to our seasons–I sense this is more than enough information to give away at once. Not to mention I have company coming over, who, above all else, desires to chatter. I do wish I could muzzle him from time to time.

Optimistically waiting,

~Ranguvar
